September 16th 2010: Defamation of the Chief Justice

Justice minister Herbert Volney launches defamatory attack on the Chief Justice, during his contribution to the 2010/2011 Budget Debate. Volney criticizes the housing afforded the Chief Justice by the State at taxpayers’ expense, alleging collusion with former Attorney General John Jeremie over the residence. Subsequent investigations show that Jeremie was not responsible for the acquisition of the residence, and that the Chief Justice is legally entitled to occupy such a residence as part of his compensation package.
