Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar provokes strong criticism across all of CARICOM following her insensitive and tasteless remarks, following the impact of Tropical Storm Thomas.

In the wake of death and destruction wrought by the storm, she tact­lessly asserts that any storm relief aid provided by Trinidad and To­bago to its CARICOM neighbours must benefit Trinidad and Tobago companies and businesses.

Her insensitivity results in a boycott campaign against T&T-produced goods.
